Work Alternative Program

In lieu of incarceration, the Jail Division of the San Benito County Sheriff's Office has an inmate Work Alternative Program. The program is known to most as W.A. (Work Alternative) or S.W.A.P. (Sheriff Work Alternative Program).

To qualify for S.W.A.P., the person must have received a jail sentence of 40 days or less. The cost of the program is $30.00 and the registration process takes approximately 30 minutes. The program accepts court commitments from all California counties.

The program is located at the County Jail. The address is 710 Flynn Road in Hollister and operates everyday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Registration for the program is done by appointment only. Call 831-636-4123 to schedule an appointment.

S.W.A.P. inmates must report to the jail at 7:30 a.m. on scheduled dates. Return time is around 3:00 p.m.. Transportation to and from the work site is the responsibility of the jail staff or delegated county employees.
